What does tofu taste like?

Tofu absorbs the flavors and seasonings that you prepare it with. Before it’s prepared it’s rather bland and not that appetizing.

Is tofu healthy?

Yes. Yes it is. I am not a nutritionist but I have done a lot of evidence-based research and urge you to do the same. Make sure you’re getting your information from credible sources and don’t get too hyped up in diet culture. Just eat whole plant-based foods and you’ll be doing your body a favor!

Should I press the tofu?

This recipe doesn’t call for pressing the tofu because it uses super firm tofu, and a little bit of moisture is good in this recipe. Generally speaking, you’ll want to press firm and extra-firm tofu to get the moisture out because then the tofu will retain the sauces and seasonings better and you’ll have a better texture once the tofu is cooked.

What’s the difference between firm and super firm tofu?

There are several different textures that tofu can have, the most common being: silken, soft, firm, extra-firm, and super firm. Silken and soft tofu are good for sauces, desserts, and tofu scrambles. Firm and extra-firm are great for most savory dishes, after pressing the tofu to get most of the moisture out. Super firm tofu is the best for when you want crunchy pieces or when you want great texture without pressing any of the moisture out.
